The Jeddah tower which was previously known as the Kingdom tower and Located in Saudi Arabia is going to be the first man made structure to reach a height of 1Km, and will knock down the Burj Khalifa off its throne to become the tallest building in the world.

Construction started in 2013 and since then there have been a variety of delays on this project and the reasons for this is because Since November of 2017, two of the project most prominent founders; Saudi Arabia prince Al — Waleed bin Talal and Bakr Bin Laden who is the chairman of Jeddah tower construction company Bin Laden group — were caught in the kingdom’s anti — corruption eradication which has seen hundred questions on accusation of corruption. But the Jeddah Economic company, the developer behind this skyscraper confirmed that the project will be completed in 2020 as planned. But that is unlikely to happen because the year is almost over.

But the CEO of Jeddah Economic company, Mounib Hammoud said that “As of 2020, you will start seeing thigs: you will see the shopping mall, you will see many other projects.”

The Jeddah tower has a gross floor area of 2.6 million square feet or 243,866 square meters and it has more than 252 stories.

Other facilities expected to be in the Jeddah tower will include a five — star four seasons hotel, 97 serviced apartments and seven Duplexes. Offices will account for seven floors, there will be four ‘residential tiers’ that will include a total of 325 apartments. Also, the elevator will be able to reach a record height of 2165 feet or 660 meters, while the double — decker lifts that takes visitors directly to the observation deck from level one of the building are expected to travel at 12.5 miles per hour.
